4 THINGS YOU NEED TO CONSIDER WHEN BUYING A HOME

Buying a property to make a home is an exciting time but is probably the biggest financial commitment you will make in your life whether you are a first time buyer, trading up or trading down. Jordans have over 30 years experience in buying and selling properties and recommend you use the following guidelines to help you get started.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  1. FINANCE: You need to go to your bank or mortgage broker to find out how much money you will be able to borrow from the bank coupled with your savings to tell you how much you will be able to spend on a property.

  2. COST: Take into consideration the costs involved in buying or moving home i.e. surveyors, solicitors, removal companies, stamp duty etc.

  3. WHERE DO YOU WANT TO LIVE: Do you want to live close to work, are you prepared to commute and your budget may have an impact on where you decide to locate. Access to a good road and rail infrastructure may be important.

  4. WISHLIST FOR YOUR NEW HOME: How many bedrooms, decent size garden, home office, broadband, schools etc.

Once you’ve done your homework and know how much you can spend, what location you wish to live, also the requirements and property type, then you are in a position to try and find your new home. The best thing to do is to register for email alerts on the property portals and contact the Estate Agent in the area in which you wish to locate, they will put you on their mailing lists.

It is important you have your homework done and mortgage approval in principle obtained as you will need this if you are going to make a bid on a property.

HAPPY HUNTING !
